Kromschroeder technology in the Olympic Torch of RIO 2016
Kromschroeder, SA, which had the experience of manufacturing the combustion systems of the Barcelona ’92 torches, was entrusted with the design and manufacture of the operating and combustion systems for the torches of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
In this “new Olympic challenge”, the operating system and the flame had to meet demanding technical specifications and adapt to the original design made by São Paulo, Chelles & Hayashi Design.
The Kromschroeder system has surpassed all the technical conditions that were demanded by the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games RIO 2016.
The flame has an autonomy of 20 minutes, a height of 30 cm, is visible from 200 m, with a constant wind resistance of 75 km / h, gusts of 125 km / h and tropical rain of 50 liters / m2 / h, works properly with relative air humidity’s of 5% to 100%, both at sea level and at 3,000 meters altitude, and finally obtained a product homologation through AENOR.
